Diary of working as a trainee

Well. I realised that I always spend two or two and an half hour to writing my blog everyday. Transferring the photos from camera or phone, grabbing photos from fb, and do editing. But I enjoy it. :D

Lets introduce my colleagues in Medianlabs.

Today is the second day I have my training in Medianlabs. Marlene came and picked me up at 9am. Then went for breakfast with my 3 juniors, Ian and Nick. Ian always acts so funny in everything, including reading magazine as well. I can see his enthusiasm on photography when he looks and studies every photographs in the camera magazine. Woots. After that, we were brought to KAMI again to check the color print. That's something wrong. Marlene rejected it and wanted them to readjust and reprint. The gal who in-charges looking so nervous about, she had no idea what's wrong with it. I am really surprised that such a printing company they don't have either AI or PS software in their computers. omg. They only print things with jpeg files. I can see that Marlene was not pleased with it since the words are not clear enough. (actually it's only a very very very very very a little bit blur at the edges of the words). See how strict Marlene is? She had told me during the interview section last week. She is famous in rejecting printing works in Miri. Hoho. Whatsoever in the end, they reprinted the colors and still got it wrong, Marlene finally dint want to talk about this thing and just readjust the colors again her own self and exported them. There are 6 files. All of them are large. So I helped to do two by using my laptop there. From that, I learned I have to adjust the CMYK, and we should choose colour by filling the numbers in CMYK instead of straight away clicking the colours in the bar. You can get the color CMYK numbers in a 'color book'.(actually it has a name for it, but I forgot ady). It's 100 something in US dollars you know. LOL. When can I get it?

After that, we headed to Petroleum Museum to copy down the history of Shell. From that, I got to know how Shell invest the oil stuff and the Miri Well No.1 got to exist. Miri Well is the 1st oil well in the world they said. Wow. How proud we are. But so? Now we are lacking of oil even Miri is the main oil production city. Thanks to the government. It was so damn hot in the the museum since there is no air-cond supplying. It's not good to the tourists cos it's a tourism recommended place what. duhhh.

Lunch. Ian suggested McD. CC was in my mind that moment. Haha. Nick loves double cheese burger like I like before I went to kl. Why? Cos double cheese burger set is so much more expensive than miri's. Btw, my colleagues gave me a task to take order of 6 of them. with a bit lot requirements. LOL. This is my welcoming lunch leh. How can they do that to me. But I handled it well.

It looks easy right? Actually I'm quite nervous of it and then keep memorising by reading it again and again in my heart when I was chit-chatting with Ian and Nick when we were queuing for our serves to be arrived. Nick was satisfied while Ian regretted that he should play it more on the ala-carte or different meals things. So bad. -.-
But thanks to him and Marlene for this welcoming lunch.

Back to office, I continued the signboard works. Ian saw it and gave some comments that may be I can have a try to put baby stork image on the signboard since the center is also for daycare service. Ian and Nick keep 'peeping' at how I do the image things in AI and Ps. They are surprised with my illustrator skills. I can know that they are not so good in these drawing and editing softwares. But they are good in photography and editing videos. Before the day was going to end, Marlene finally came and took a look on my works. She was not pleased. She said my works are too complicated for a daycare and tuition center signboard. I thought they are simple enough already. She wants me to work on it again with giving critiques and comments. Okay, it reminds me I was showing digital sketches to Debbie. But Marlene won't look at my references lah. haha.

Besides, I found lots of great jobs in photography in their fb just now.

Newbie of Medianlabs

yeah. Finally I stepped into Medianlabs.
There are only two words I can describe the working place.
So Free.
It's really free. Not that free you think like got nothing to do. It points to the environment and people there bring me to feel so free.

I went out again when I just stayed there for like only 5 minutes. Marlene brought me to KAMI( a printing company) to pass files to get them to be printed out. I had seen that how she cropped and adjusted the works in AI when there is something wrong with the outline. How to set the right printing saving setting as well. To make sure the resolution and colour will be fine.

In car, Marlene told me a lot more of her own history and Medianlabs. Even she brought me to her home. :D Her home is like a little zoo. I can even see peacocks there. Not only one. There are four! LOL. The back part of her home reminded me SPCA that I visited not long time ago. hoho. But not so spectacular like SPCA lah.

Marlene was graduated from LimKokWing. She upgraded herself for degree in somewhere in West M'sia that I forgot the name ady. ^^'" After that she went for training in two companies in M'sia as well before she got to go Beijing for her last job as a employee. She had stayed in Beijing for almost 5 years. Worked as art director in Aussino(I dunno whether I spell it right or not). She is great. She is nice. She is awesome. These are what I can describe her. She told me a lot the life when being as a designer and the living rules in design world. She is so patient in everything. I can say thanks to Jesus she has a good temper. I can see she is holy enough in everything.
By the way, it's much funnier that all her friends know me. Cos most of her friends are chunghua students. Even the seniors that are bigger than me a lot. I remember that I dunno them well too. But they do. -.^ They even told Marlene I can draw well. wow. Am I really so famous? Marlene starts to look up at me. my god. -.- I'm only a foundation graduate.

Back to office, there are two colleagues sitting with facing their laptop and so damn big Mac plasma desktop. Both of them are guy. Ian and Nick. (I dunno I got the spelling right or not). haha. One chinese and one malay? I doubt because Ian doesn't look like either Malay or bumiputera. But they are really funny. The first thing they put on me is change my name. My name will be 'ah girl' from today on. -.-'" This is their usual rule for trainee. Ah girl for gal, ah boy for guy. The second thing they told me is not to be shy to them. Cos they will play things on me if I am not planning to be friend with them. LOL. What a different rule in office. Besides, they told me not to be shocked if there is camera in front of you in a sudden. Cos they are photographers too besides as graphic designers. They love to make fun on people and make them videos. I can say that I am fine with it cos I already get used to this kind of life in The One. My classmates are crazy like them. But not that pro like them. :P
Ian said he started to like me when I started to make joke with him. Cos I knew that the last trainee was not so talkative and funny like me. Hoho. Looking forward to have fun with you guys in this two weeks.

They even asked me want to join their tennis game in the office or not. LOL. It's so too over I can say. But Marlene is fine with it. Cos she likes her office to be like that. Enough freedom for designers to get their space.

There are quite a lot of CD or DVD players set tidily and fulfilled the wall with TV. MACs and PCs in the middle. A small office is fulfilled with right enough equipments. You can get coffee and other drinks behind the door of the office. You can walk out for a drink too if you want. Just like Ian and Nick usually did. Marlene told me.

Will be taking pictures few days later since I am just new to there. I am still shy what. :P haha.

After that, Marlene gave me a project to work on. It's a signboard of a tuition center in KL. Even West M'sia asked Miri company to do for them huh? Marlene explained the things I have to take care and showed the previous signboards that the tuition had before. I can say they are bad. -.- Sorry. I also have no guts to say that I can do it well too. Just try my best kay.

Looking forward to what Medianlabs can bring to me. Tomorrow is a new day. Marlene will come to pick me up with some chunghua students that I know some to breakfast and go to work at the Petroleum museum in the morning. Sounds to copy some info for the Shell project.

One more letter for me today again. From Sibu as well. Want to get to know with same reason and got my details with the same source. Wtf I can say. Lazy to deal with it.

It's exact 12 in the morning. I have to work on my works now. Night.

There is a funny thing I had today. My dad passed me three letters. Two are written with the name of one of my secondary school mates.(It took me a moment to remember her barely). I have no idea why her letters were written with my home address and so to get to sent here. It's so weird.

I opened and read the another one that is written for me. Inside, it really surprised me a lot. LOL. It's a guy who I dunno wrote for me. He said he knew me from one penpal knowing kind of thing in a high school magazine. And then I have even no idea of it. Who go and post my name and home address in that magazine?????!!!! wtf.

But it hasn't end. He said he knew I am a friend of the school mate that I said at above. It's more crazier. What to do with the friend? I dun even friend to her!

Is it she post my details in the magazine? But what to do with her two letters? Why did it to be sent to me?

I really have no idea of it. -.-

New hair style

Finally got my hair cut this evening. This time is stilll the same, my hair became short and thiner again. -.- but,it still look good for me :P

Night, went out for Abigail's birthday celebration. Dinner. Sing k. Will be uploading those photos 2ml. It's already late and I am quite lazy dy. :P

But after taking bath, I still got myself a movie. :D

Nice. It's not just because my favourite artist is involved in this movie. It's storyline and flowing is good. The inner meaning in the end had paid by my tears. -.- I'm just so weak in controlling my tearing glances. -.-

New licence

yeap. Have to keep updating my blog recently. heehee. yeah. I did went for interview on the second day after coming back. I prepared my portfolios.hmm. they are just the works that I did in The One and showed the manager of the graphic design company. It's just a short interview. She looked through my works and asked me some ideas when I was doing those things. I explained briefly how I got the idea and what I want to express to the viewers. Luckily she likes my typo. :) She's a kind of people like Debbie who prefer to look for the grid, arrangement of typo and images. She told me that she just likes to keep things simple and nice. Complicated is too uncomfortable to her. By the way, there was a malay/indian man standing behind us and looking at my works quietly. He quite shocked me. I rarely remember what is his name-.-'" sorry. But he looks friendly and he used one word to comment my works, that is 'crazy'. -.^ I dunno is this 'crazy' means good or bad to me.

Whatever, Marlene(the manager) accepted me to work under her. :D After that, she briefed me how is her company running, what is her mission and vision on doing works, and even her background. She's graduated from LimKokWing yar. She had told me what I am going to do. Cos everything now is going to final, to be ended. So, definitely I can't touch those things lah. She's going to give me some logo designs stuff to let me have a try. I dint do logo design before. This time is a great start yar. Hoho. And then, when she is so willing to bring me when she is going to get their works to print out. She wants me to see how those printing stuffs get to print. How to check the colour code blablablabla I forgot ady and the size before printing. :D Am excited of it. Hoho. 9.30am - 4.30pm. I chose the longer working hours. Hope to learn more things in this boring sem break. RM250-300 for two weeks as a trainee. Okay what. I dun really lack of $. It's worth enough to pay for the experiences. Hoho. Three more days to get on it. yeahhhhhhh. Hope everything goes fine to me. :P

YEAHHHHHH. Today finally I got to meet my busy mirian friends. They are so damn busy. -.- sien. So, how can I meet them? Go their uni lah! I did it. I even went to sit for the tutorial class with them. XDDDDD All of this is Miss Tweety(viavia)'s idea. Damn excited of it. Without telling bong,ing them. I was so damn happy in looking at their shocking faces when I was standing in front of them inside their lecturer hall. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Crazy am I? yeah. I am your Siawpei what. Miss my craziness? U got it today. xDDDDD yup. I really sat in their class, even zero degree faced to face with their lecturer. xD What a good seat u guys had arranged to me yar. LOL. Luckily the lecturer dint care so much bout me even though most of the time I was drawing in his class. hahaha. What lah. I had paid at least 50% attention to his lecture hor. Physics tutorial. What a memory to me. I flipped through Ing's notes. I can just found this, that is the thing I can understand and I can know how to do one. HAHAHAHAHAHAA.

By the way, I knew this from Add Maths leh. LOL. I miss add maths >.<

I'm back

yeah. I'm back to miri this evening. No so much feeling this time. may be start to get used to it.
This time will be staying for 19 days that is till 8th of may, i will be going back loh.
But this time, seems all of my miri friends are not so free like me. They all busy with their studies. Some more some of my besties are not here ady. sigh. This sem break is really boring.
My dad asked me whether I want to work at his friend's studio or not. Do something like graphic design stuffs like that. Sure. Of cos I want. It's just depend my dad's friend want to hire a student who just studied foundation basic design only and even dint have any experience in doing those graphic things. hoho. Hope it'll success. If not this 19 days I will really bore till die.
Okay, I have brought some novels back. Plan to finish it in this holiday. Second, dslr. Have to study my new baby 550D well too. hmmm... what else har.. Havent think of it.

By the way, this evening on the way to back home, my bro and my sis told me one thing that really surprised me a lot. Even until now, I still can't accept it. That is, my family is going to move to KK(kota kinabalu) in this year. Because of working of cos. My sabah uncle doesn't want to run the game station anymore there, so my parents plan to take over.

I know that is really can earn a lot of money. But..... how can we leave miri just like this. I can't believe it. I never think of this before. All of these comes in a sudden. Everyone is here. My relatives, my friends are all here. I have stayed here for almost 20 years! However this place has no so much fun like kk or kl. But I really love this place so much. I don't want to leave. I don't want to leave his place!!! I can't imagine next time I want to come back, I am entering KK airplane terminal but not Miri airplane terminal anymore. T.T
Can mum and dad keep our boulevard house whenever we left ady? So that we can still live at our own house when we come back. Please don't rent it to anyone else. I love this house too. T.T

My miri friends, how will u think? How will u guys think if I leave here? I'll really really really miss u guys a lot.

Tough week :)

hoho. wow. It's almost one year I have came to study design in kl.
1st year 3rd sem. wow. It's like a dream. I hardly believe that it's almost one year. Tonnes of assignments and busy life have driven me not to notice how fast is the time running.
One year ago, before I came to here, I heard a lot of seniors said that I am gonna have a tough time if I come to The One. and now, I really experienced it. Somemore I am having now. hoho.
Finals of every sem always are so crazy and amazing. This time is even more crazier. As only foundation students, we have placed our artworks of History If Art in the school gallery which is the place usually given for graduates or outstanding seniors to exhibit their works. LOL. The second thing that I found crazy is our Design finals also have to be done like an exhibition. The previous badge degree seniors dint even have such thing before. We have messed up many parts of the main block of our school. Will be upload the photos of every group soon.
All these thanks to our lecturer - Stephen Poon. He teaches us both subjects. Thanks to him, we just got so many exhibitions in a short time. He is so willing to ask for permissions for us. He has done a lot for us. Really. I really appreciate him. Remember last time I showed him my 100 design photographs before cny, he just talked like a dad to me. So warm and touching. Thanks. so muchy. I am willing to do work under your teaching and assistance after these. Of course. I will do what you said to me yar. hoho.
